At the world’s leading furniture and interior design trade fair, we discovered key trends and innovations that are set to define the future of luxury washrooms - Interzum 2025. Our Head of Innovation visited Interzum in Cologne, Germany – bringing back fresh insights that are already influencing how luxury washrooms are designed and delivered.

At Maxwood Washrooms, we take pride in being a trusted guide and notable educator for architects, developers, cost consultants, and all those interested in the luxury washrooms industry and helping you navigate the evolving washroom landscape with expert knowledge and market-leading solutions – like our latest industry first Movana.

But what are the latest trends, and how will they shape the future of washrooms?
Natural Finishes: Embracing Authenticity
A standout trend at Interzum was the abundance of natural finishes, woodgrain laminates, and stone-effect surfaces that brought both texture and warmth into interior spaces. Real wood veneers were widely popular amongst the exhibitions, reflecting a growing demand for authentic yet functional materials. Interesting bamboo was less common, yet its environmental impact has such a vast improvement than that of its wood counterpart.
We’re proud to offer it within our range as a sustainable and stylish choice, find more information here.
Hardware Elevation: Timeless Elegance
Bronze, gold, and black dominated the hardware finishes palette, continuing to elevate washroom aesthetics. These tones bring sophistication and timeless elegance, making each hinge and handle a design statement as well as a functional component.
Maxwood Washrooms partners with Dolphin Solutions, to offer an extensive range of high-quality washroom accessories.
Integrated Lighting: Ambiance and Usability
A major feature on display at several exhibitions was lighting that was integrated into cabinetry and furniture, creating spaces that were both functional and atmospheric. It is key to remember that thoughtful lighting designs can truly transform everyday routines into functioning well-being environments.
Look at our project at 16 St Martins Le Grand where you can see from the photographs how lighting was used to create a warm and inviting washroom area.
Why Innovation Is Important
Today’s washrooms are more than just functional spaces; they are experiences that blend everyday experiences with elevated ways of living. By embracing trends and fine-tuning to suit each building's needs you can create interiors that meet both practical needs and design aspirations.
An innovation we are particularly proud of at Maxwood Washrooms is Movana. The industry’s first full-heigh cubicle to open outwards in an emergency in less than 5 seconds and can be replaced with ease.
No heavy lifting. No tools. No damage to the door.
