High-impact yet cost-effective washroom and changing areas form part of £12 million new college

Designed to a budget yet still displaying inspirational creativity, the washroom and changing areas provide real enhancement at this stunning new college. Based around the ever-popular and durable Motiv cubicle range, skilful use of laminates in the college's brand colours generated an impressive finish that belied the cost-effectiveness of design.

Open access directly off learning areas was a key feature of the washroom areas at this new-build college, supporting an overarching project brief to minimise potential for bullying and anti-social behaviour through skilful building design. As such, all toilets were unisex and maximum privacy was therefore required.

Full-height divisions with floor clearance reduced to 25mm were the first step towards enhanced privacy. 2m height doors were complemented with translucent Perspex over-door panels, which completed the privacy yet allowed light into the cubicles.

Corresponding changing areas boasted the same skilful use of colours but with standard-height cubicles. Opex benching with Solid Ash seating laths and peg rails, together with Xaron vanity units with semi-recessed basins, provide finishing touches to the appealing changing areas.
